The friends we gather, masks they wear,

Painted smiles, perfumed despair.

We walk in dreams we dare call fate,

Blind to the hands that seal the gate.

A child’s pure heart, an adult’s scheme,

Truth grows thin inside the dream.

The world moves on, half-alive,

Counting coins to feel alive.

Alone one fades who betrays the self,

Rich in things, yet poor in depth.

Gold may shine where souls grow pale,

Wealth can’t heal what truth won’t save.

Thank you for sharing Sir Diego.

Such fine words to describe reality of things.

I think not only the friends but we also wear a mask and despite knowing about what they are upto we choose, or at least I choose, to behave diplomatic.

It feels like though I myself imbued the purity of a child’s heart ♥️ yet I myself conjure adult’s schemes to try to make everyone happy.

I too am counting coins, day and night for others to feel alive. This is what I think but in reality I may actually be doing it for myself. For my sanity in the quietness of others.

Yes
. The wealth grows but slowly I know I am drifting apart from my own. “My own”, what a major misunderstanding that is 🤣

The only trust I have right now is in the grand scheme of things and hoping it will pan out as it’s meant to be.

Why do we wear masks at all?

Is it a choice, or simply a habit stitched into us long before we’re aware of it, quietly embedded through upbringing, approval, and expectation?

A child begins unmasked, open and unguarded. But as the years pass, layers are added. Not because the child desires them, but because conditioning demands them. Slowly, the mask becomes normal. Necessary. Even invisible.

Over time, we mistake the mask for the self. We seek validation for the version we’ve constructed, not for who we truly are. Acceptance becomes the currency, and the performance never ends. In that loop, our real potential stays hidden, buried beneath borrowed identities and learned behaviors.

It’s a subtle delusion, a vicious circle few recognize. Fewer still choose to step out of it. Yet those who do begin a quieter, braver journey, shedding what was learned, remembering what was true, and emerging not as someone new, but as who they always were.
