The other fine day my awesome friend Suechi shared an amazing observation he had while walking towards his home.
He observed that his existence is nothing but experiences he receives from his sensory organs. A mighty perspective which wish to understand in depth.
So with Suechi’s permission I am sharing his post link here: Who am I?
Have a read and do share what your perspective is on this observation.
Cheers!
Hi, thanks for sharing my post here.
Isn’t it true that we can feel, see, perceive things because we have these sense organs?
Of course there is the conscious part as well which needs to be there to feel it too.
I think it would be better if you shared your thoughts on the post to take discussions further.
Cheers Man!
I am rather disturbed by reading your post. It has challenged me to think what I truly am. Some time ago I mentioned a realisation that there are two selves of myself and one of them has to go. I am now challenged to think if that perception of self is what I personally feel to is it just what my experiences are making me feel. Can I be actually be a totally “Someone Else”?
I guess its good that my post has made this challenge upon you.
You would find the answer to it if you look into it.
See if you’re actually, you should find something.
I tried it a bit today. But I got confused and distracted. It’s true that my senses are allowing my perception of myself to form. But there is a flooding of thought. Can you guide a bit?
When you say flooding of thought do you mean that when you try to focus on your senses you have something in your mind saying to focus on the senses or something similar to this?
If that is the case then just observe yourself as you are reading this text.
When you are reading this is there anything going on in your mind at the time of reading it? Or is the thought coming into action when there is a gap in between like say you’re pausing to understand a certain thing.
Try this again, just observe in yourself, observe your sense, do not try to understand these texts, just read it as if your reading random statements.
While you’re reading this just focus on your eyes that is looking at this word and at that moment if you observe your mind is blank.
This is why when we do the things that we love, we will be in the moment and we don’t get distracted by thoughts.
We enjoy the process and it feels like a breeze while for others it might feel like we have done a big task.
Another thing to do is just take a deep breathe, take it slowly, observe where is this air going in your body.
Try to find out where does it go once it passes your nasal passage, feel it while you’re breathing it out.
You can do the same with hearing as well.
Just sit where you are and put your focus to your ears, listen to the sounds around you.
Observe at that moment if there was any thoughts coming to your mind.
This is a fun activity to do 🙂
Wow! This seems fun! I will do this. I see it through when you highlight the love for a process influencing the load it generates. I will do. the exercise to mentioned with my time writing and reading the comments here.
Also, you mentioned noticing my other senses. While I do focus on them unknowingly especially when I am in isolation like a shower or just before sleeping, but this time I will focus on the additional sounds that are heard or felt. It may be hard but I may also try to see the impact of these sounds on me, though I feel it would be rather tough to do so.
The goal here is not to find sounds and see if it has any impact on you.
The goal here is to just focus on your senses to be in the moment without the thoughts wandering about.
I understand. I will try this out.
Just like I mentioned earlier about reading the texts here.. you are occupied in reading the text and there is nothing else going on in your mind while you’re reading it.
This is because it is a topic that you’re interested in and you’re involved in it.
Similarly I asked you to read something that you are not interested in then you would easily have thoughts that would distract your reading.
I think I might have touched the tip of the iceberg.
nice, soon you will be the iceberg 🙂
